This beautiful wedding at The Coronado was one I will not soon forget. Let me set the scene for you… it was a rainy, cold December day. But you wouldn’t have known it by looking at Ashley and Drew. These two were wrapped up in each other & their joy. The celebration of starting their forever could not be tempered, no matter the weather.
Ashley got ready in a light-filled suite at the Chase in St. Louis, surrounded by her best friends and a whole lot of laughter.
And the first look with her friends was so much fun!! She was living her bridal moment, and I loved capturing every second. I am really enjoying the first-look-with-the-bridesmaids that I’m seeing more and more of at weddings. Here’s another wedding where they planned this! It’s such a “girlhood” moment.
She wore a fitted lace gown with delicate off-the-shoulder detail. It was equal parts timeless and striking. It was one of those gowns that just… matched her. She looked incredible! Every detail of her look was intentional, and when Drew saw her for the first time, you could see how deeply he felt it. Their little interactions throughout the day were some of my favorites to capture as a St. Louis Wedding Photographer.
Despite the cold and steady drizzle, we made magic outside for their first look. There’s a gorgeous architectural overhang by the pool at the Chase, and it ended up being the most perfect tucked-away spot for a quiet moment between the two of them. And you know what? The rain only added to the feeling. Think… romantic and cinematic, like they had the world to themselves for just a minute.
From there, we headed to The Coronado for their ceremony and reception.
If you’ve never been, it’s one of those venues that’s full of grandeur and warmth. The vaulted ceilings, historic charm, and the kind of space that holds celebration well. And this day? It was a celebration in every sense.
Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, with emotional vows and tearful smiles all around. And the reception? A total party. Not to mention a total candlelit vibe! Complete with a cigar bar!
Ashley and Drew’s people showed up: the dance floor was packed from start to finish, with everyone from toddlers to grandparents grooving. Toasts were moving, hilarious, and full of love. It was one of those receptions where everyone clearly meant it when they said how happy they were for the couple.
One moment that stands out the most: their first dance.
It was soft and slow and completely magnetic. You could tell they were in their own little world, even with all their guests looking on. It was a quiet moment to reconnect with the core intention of the day. To celebrate their partnership, and the magic of finding your person.
Ashley and Drew’s wedding at The Coronado was the perfect blend of elegant and fun, meaningful and unfiltered. It was such an honor to document this day for them, and even more, to witness the way they love.
Even with the rain and chill, this was hands down one of the most laid back days I’ve seen. It’s days like this that remind me why I do what I do.
