Old Town Alexandria Wedding in Washington D.C. | St. Louis Photographer

I can’t wait to show you this beautiful day in Old Town Alexandra, celebrating Luke and Alexis. It was so special, I felt so lucky to be there as their wedding photographer. While I’m usually photographing in St. Louis, this trip to Washington D.C. was something I’ll never forget.

The day was slow, arm and connection-focused. As a lifestyle photographer, this was a dream to capture. So many weddings have jam packed timelines and fast-paced days. And while there is nothing wrong with that at all, there was just something really intentional about their decision to slow down and just let this day be whatever it was going to be.

Old Town Alexandria was the perfect backdrop for these two.

They got ready together and we spent some time in the evening taking photos outdoors. We got some couples portraits and some pictures with their friends. Not a shot list or stressed family member in sight.

Their wedding day centered around presence and shared moments with their friends. I know it can feel like such a break from tradition to plan a day like this, but consider this your invitation to consider what this type of day could look like for you. Morning coffees together. Laughing with your spouse-to-be while applying make up. Having them zip up your dress or fix your tie. Big hugs from your friends.

Moments of calm, with no rush or hurry to the next thing.

It’s not for everyone (and that’s okay!) but I always find myself in such creative inspiration when I am capturing these slower days.

Luke and Alexis not only felt amazing, but they looked amazing too. Alexis wore a silky white gown with an open back and tied bow detail. 10/10, no notes. And Luke complimented her perfectly in a soft neutral suit, layered with a warm brown vest and bolo tie. They looked like they stepped out of a magazine spread.

They said “I do” in front of big, beautiful windows looking out on the city. Their closest friends and family surrounded them. Then we all settled in for a cozy dinner reception at Josephine’s.

If you’re planning a wedding in Old Town Alexandria, I highly recommend this venue. It was everything vibey, warm and inviting.

These two cut their cake, danced with their friends, curled up in the booths and chatted the night away. It was the perfect time to slow down and celebrate their commitment to each other and start a new chapter of life.

I’m drawn to the unfiltered moments that make up real life. My work is about more than just what’s seen—it’s about what’s felt. My focus is on capturing emotion, connection, and the in-between moments that often go unnoticed but hold the most meaning. If you’re looking for imagery that feels real, personal, and alive, let’s create something together.
