Styled Session at Powell Hall at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center | St. Louis Wedding Photographer

There is something different about stepping into a space like Powell Hall. You feel it immediately. The scale. The history. The quiet kind of grandeur that does not need to prove anything. And yet, what I am always looking for is not just the architecture. It is the way light moves through it. The way people exist inside it. The way it adds to the story of the photographs.

This shoot was part of a beautifully curated styled session, hosted and creatively directed by Jordan Grover.

Every detail was intentional and I loved getting creatively inspired with other creatives.

Even in a styled space, I do not chase perfection. I look for feeling. As a documentary styled wedding photographer, this is where my eye is drawn.

The space, the light, the presence and the story.

Powell Hall carries weight. Think: tall ceilings and ornate details. Soft shadows that fall just right. It is the kind of place that could easily overpower a moment. But instead, it became a backdrop that elevated it.

I moved slowly. Observing. Letting the light lead. Letting the architecture frame them without taking over. This is where I feel most like myself behind the camera.

For this session at Powell Hall, I worked with both 35mm film and digital. I love what each brings.

Film softens. It holds emotion in a beautiful, quiet way.

Digital sharpens. It gives me so much flexibility and room to play as an artist.

This is always at the core of how I shoot.

Even in a styled environment. I am not looking for poses that feel forced. I am looking for the in-between.

The pause before a smile.

The way a hand rests without thinking.

The shift of light across a shoulder.

That is where emotion lives. And that is what I follow.

I’m drawn to the unfiltered moments that make up real life. My work is about more than just what’s seen—it’s about what’s felt. My focus is on capturing emotion, connection, and the in-between moments that often go unnoticed but hold the most meaning. If you’re looking for imagery that feels real, personal, and alive, let’s create something together.
