There is something undeniably romantic about having your engagement session at Brennan’s in Central West End. The historic architecture, charming sidewalks, and effortlessly chic atmosphere create the perfect backdrop. If you’re dreaming of photos that feel both elevated and authentic, this is a location I’d consider for your session.
For this session, we spent the afternoon at this iconic St. Louis restaurant.
The result felt like a scene pulled straight from the pages of a magazine. All things sophisticated, intimate, and full of genuine connection.

A Classic Look with Modern Style
One of my favorite things about this session was how effortlessly these two embraced the setting.
The bride-to-be wore a fitted ivory dress with beautiful ruching and a draped neckline. Showing off her bridal era in a chic way. She paired it with delicate heels. Put together with her sleek blonde bob, her look was the definition of understated elegance. In other words, she looked like she was styled perfectly for the Brennan’s setting.
Her groom complemented her perfectly in a tailored navy suit with rich brown leather shoes. The combination was really polished without being overly formal.

Brennan’s in the Central West End provided so many opportunities for storytelling throughout the session.
From sitting together at the bar to sharing quiet moments by the large windows, every corner offered a different mood. Some images felt cinematic and dramatic. Others felt soft and intimate. The contrast between the dark interior and the natural light pouring through the windows created a gallery that feels layered and full of emotion.
And getting to photograph some of this session on film meant really leaning into the nostalgic feel.

One reason I love photographing in the Central West End is how much variety exists within a few blocks.
After exploring inside Brennan’s, we stepped outside into the neighborhood’s beautiful streets. Historic stone architecture, ornate storefronts, tree-lined sidewalks, and soft afternoon light created the perfect contrast to the moody interior images.
The transition was seamless, since everything was within a short walking distance.
One moment we were capturing quiet, intimate portraits inside a cocktail bar. Next, we were wandering through one of St. Louis’ most charming neighborhoods, documenting genuine laughter and easy conversation.
I love photographing in the beautiful parks we have here. But I also find myself gravitating towards my cityscape engagement sessions. Another example of one is here at Brasserie!

Here’s the thing… the best engagement sessions are never about perfect poses. They are about connection.
These two brought so much warmth and ease to every moment. Whether they were sharing a quiet kiss by the window, laughing together on the sidewalk, or holding hands as they explored the neighborhood, their chemistry made every frame feel effortless. And because my posing style is documentary… they really got to sink into the experience and just enjoy an evening out together.
So, if you’re planning your engagement photos and want something that combines historic charm, editorial style, and endless variety… this is your invitation to consider Brennan’s in the Central West End.
It’s always a beautiful choice. Between iconic restaurants and the neighborhood’s timeless character, it is easy to create a gallery full of images that are both editorial and deeply personal.
