I hope you’re ready for a cinematic, gorgeous, artistic day at Magic Chef Mansion in St. Louis. This celebration felt more like an artful gathering than a traditional event. From the start, this day was about intention. About presence. About choosing beauty, history, and people as the centerpieces of your day.
The Magic Chef Mansion in St. Louis is an old-world estate built in 1908, tucked into the Compton Hill Reservoir Square neighborhood.
It feels like a hidden oasis in the city. The architecture alone sets the tone for beautiful photos. Think: ornate brickwork. Tall windows. Original artwork layered with vintage details. This is a beautiful space that invites you to slow down and notice things.
Julia and Kevin did exactly that.
Their ceremony took place outside the front of the mansion, surrounded by a small circle of friends and family. Chairs were arranged on the lawn, while sunlight filtered through the trees. I wish you could hear the laughter through these photos. There was a feeling that everyone present truly belonged there. As a St. Louis wedding photographer, this was a dream environment for me.
Portraits followed in the same spirit. Intentional moments together. We opted for a mix of digital and film that honored the texture, light, and movement that this couple valued.
Julia wore three vintage dresses throughout the day, each one a reflection of her personal style. From the beaded detail, to the soft structure. Her final dress was one she designed herself, which was the perfect closing note to such a personal story.
I highly recommend Magic Chef Mansion as a Setting for an intimate weddings.
This venue is ideal for couples who love art, history, and meaningful design. Every corner offers visual interest and gorgeous backdrops. We photographed in textured rooms that feel lived in, not staged. Which is why this wedding day unfolded so naturally, without any installations. As if we transported to somewhere in Europe without even trying.
After portraits, the celebration moved beyond the mansion. Cocktail hour took place on the patio at Brasserie, followed by dinner and dancing late into the night. Since they chose a favorite restaurant for their reception, it made the evening feel relaxed and personal, and it also showed how flexible a St. Louis wedding day can be, especially for smaller guest counts.
Restaurants like Brasserie offer warmth, character, and an experience that feels shared rather than produced.
I hope more of my couples opt for local places for their receptions, because it’s like lightening in a bottle. Just the coolest environment ever.
This entire day was thoughtfully planned and deeply artistic. Julia and Kevin wanted their gallery to feel like art, with them as the subjects. That vision guided every decision, from the venue to the dresses to the flow of the day. And I think we captured just that.
For couples drawn to old-world design, vintage details, and intimate celebrations, Magic Chef Mansion is a beautiful place to begin a wedding story. Scroll through for some inspiration by Julia and Kevin:
