Lafayette Park has a way of slowing everything down. Inviting you to breathe. As a St. Louis wedding photographer, I absolutely love locations that bring out this feeling. I photograph in a very documentary style vibe, and the location can have a big impact on that. I always recommend this gorgeous spot if someone is looking for diversity and simplicity in their gallery.
Grace and Michael’s engagement session unfolded exactly that way. Gentle and unhurried, surrounded by the character of one of St. Louis’ most romantic neighborhoods.
The leaves were fully showing off in Lafayette Park that day!
Golden, green, and just beginning to fall. It created the most magical backdrop for their gallery. I mean, you can’t beat the sunlight moving through the branches like it was part of the story and the quiet ducks swimming along like paid extras!
This is the kind of place that encourages connection without asking for a performance. Perfection in my book.
Grace wore a long white dress with flowing sleeves that caught the breeze with every step and twirl. Michael kept things timeless in a black suit and white shirt.
I like to think of them looking back fondly on these engagement photos in 20 or 30 years!
While St. Louis has so many gorgeous parks to offer, Lafayette Square brought a different rhythm to the session. Historic homes stood tall and steady nearby, adding a grounding effect to the playfulness of the park. Grace and Michael moved easily through their session. Hands linked, together as a team preparing for a new season in their lives.
This is why I love photographing couples here. The calm energy. The balance of nature and architecture. The way the setting supports storytelling instead of overpowering it. It allows couples to simply be themselves. As a photographer, it’s my job to capture who you are. And the way you’re feeling in this moment.
For couples looking for something romantic without crowds, Lafayette offers space to tell a story that feels true.
One shaped by movement, light, and quiet moments in between. It remains one of my favorite places to create images that feel timeless and deeply personal.
